The program is part of an ongoing focus of New Look's youth initiatives, which don't begin and end with Camp New Look.

Experience: Powered By Service

Once young people leave camp they go back to their communities with a commitment to implement local Powered By Service projects. Young people receive local support from UNL partners such as Boys and Girls Clubs and City Year to implement their projects. Lending on the capacity of local partners, UNL is able to offer young people ongoing, localized resources as they continue to evolve as leaders and change agents.

Individual young people, or small groups of young people, create plans for local projects and apply for Powered By Service grants of up to $1000 from UNL to implement their projects. Projects build local awareness and address the root cause of the issue they learned about at camp. In addition, their projects mobilize and organize other young people and adults in the community to act on the issue.
