Jarvis-LaRue Brown - Detroit Program Coordinator

Jarvis-LaRue Brown is the Program Coordinator for New Look’s Detroit chapter. He is described by many as a multi-talented, creative, dependable and a dedicated leader.  At the tender age of thirteen Brown joined The Detroit Youth Foundation as a volunteer which gave him the opportunity to help his local neighborhood and express his talents. Grabbing a prestigious youth development award for his involvement with the KYDS VI, Jarvis realized early on that his passions were helping youth and creating music.

Brown has traveled to Paris and Marseille France working with youth and organizations internationally.  He is working with YouthVille Detroit, The Peace Project, YMCA, Generation with Promise and countless others youth development organizations around the Detroit Metropolitan area.

Jarvis graduated from Detroit Northern High School in 2005. He is an Alumni of Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts and received the “Above and Beyond Award” for his diligence and support.  He attended University of Toledo studying Communications and is now completing his BA degree at Wayne State University.

Jarvis is inspired by all of the opportunities that youth are given within the New Look Foundation.  Jarvis works hands on with youth using modules from New Look Foundation and tapping into each youths creativity. “Becoming a leader is not something that happens overnight, It takes work, drive and dedication. I have a passion for working with youth, their success is my success.” says Jarvis. Brown is very passionate about music.  Leading by example Brown is also a self taught musician who writes, composes, and produces his own music.

Always pressing forward Brown and his team of amazing youth have created a short film discussing the causes and effects of bullying. With no end in sight they are continually composing original songs, being featured in magazines and radio interviews Detroit New Look is definitely creating a name for itself. Many great things are happening with New Look and I’m excited to be a part of a great foundation.
